Amy Pyers

Drawing and art came naturally to me as a child and after schooling I began a course on graphic design. This was before the digital computer revolution. I dropped out a year into this and hitch-hiked within Australia, always carrying a sketch book and pens!

Later in life I raised my son alone and then resumed my hobby more recently. I have sold some pieces I'd painted during worship music in church in the early 2010's. This is one of those.

Psalm one verses one to three by artist Amy Pyers. Psalm one verses one to three is a painting in acrylic on canvas board by artist Amy Pyers. This square scene measuring 50 centimetres by 50 centimetres depicts a lone figure prostrated under a blazing sun by a leafy tree. The figure is face down with knees bent under them and arms on the dusty orange ground as if in worship, a thin stream separates them from a tall lush tree at the bottom of the scene, the stream empties into a rippling blue pond. The whole scene is painted in thick sweeping strokes. The amber coloured earth is painted on in wide arcs and the tree in thick snaking lines of brown and grey with foliage daubed on in splotches of green and yellow.

A harsh light falls over the scene from the top right corner shown us rays of translucent white and pale yellow.

I've sold some pieces I'd painted during worship music in church in the early 2000 and tens. And this is one of those."
